La Hay Sainte was the center of Wellington's defense. At 1:00 PM, D'Erlon's I Corps composed of the 54th & 55th French Line infantry attacked La Haye Sainte occupied by the 2nd Light Battalion, King's German Legion, commanded by Major Baring. By 6:00PM, the garrison fell to the French. And, by 9:00 Pm, the garrison was recaptured by the British.
